Channel Factory launches 'AI slop' detection. Two of its figures come with no named source

Programmatic Spain reports that Channel Factory, a contextual advertising company, has added AI slop detection to its platform. The system classifies content on a five-level spectrum, from confirmed AI slop at one end to fully human-created content at the other, and covers YouTube, Meta, TikTok, Reddit, Snapchat and CTV.

The classification weighs four dimensions: contextual meaning and tone, content quality indicators, alignment with the brand's values and the campaign's goals, and market, category and cultural nuance. According to the article, the system works in more than 50 languages. The article describes the targeted content as slop designed to maximize monetization.

The article also carries three figures: 21% of a typical user's social feed is AI slop, 33% is 'brain rot' video, and a single study identified 278 AI slop videos with more than 63 billion views. The sentence gives no source for the first two.

Our reading: for an advertiser, a content quality score is one more filter between a budget and your page, and a filter changes who gets paid. The environments Channel Factory covers are closed ones, not the open web, so this is not yet a rule for your site. What applies from today is the habit: ask who produced a number before repeating it, and expect buyers on the open web to start asking what quality your pages can show.
